Pirates Vs. Ninja Vs. Bean Bags

Bags!

Or, as a friend says… “BAYGS”. In Ohio they call it “cornhole”. In Chicago its called “Bags” or “Baggo” or when i was a kid simply “Bean Bags”. Wikipedia puts it all under “Corn Toss”.

This weekend I got the Bags bug again and this time got a couple of friends to join me in the construction of a couple of boxes. We generally followed along with the info on this blog (Kevin’s Brain) and used these CORNHOLE plans.

I know its not exactly the (possibly more difficult) Chicago style of board but these were good plans and I like the folding legs thing. The one my dad built many moons ago was not as easy to store.

Construction was no big deal but I really wanted to create a “NINJAs VS. PIRATES” themed set since i FRIGGEN HATE PIRATES!

Friend X “Code name: Skiz” and I painted the boxes black:

We put the designs together in photoshop from random images and wingdings. I used Qimage to make a 3x4 page “poster” of the images and spent what seemed like a century cutting out stencils with an exacto knife.

I did the spray painting and it did NOT go too well. We used the chapstick ‘trick’ to hold the stencil better but the spray over made a total mess. Laser printer paper makes a bad stencil. If I had to do it over again I’d invest in clear contact paper (like they use in air brushing) and I’d make stencils that stuck to the boards and made nice clean lines.

Because there was so much overspray, I went back with my old art brushesh and cleaned every edge on both boards. After which they looked friggen awesome. Below you see the finished boards…

So thats about it… Skizle and I were quite proud of our work and though it was a bit harder than we expected, we had a lot of laughs watching this masterpeice unfold. And yes, that is Kanji for NINJA!
